Sydney, the largest city of Australia is perhaps the most ideal destination to experience the colors of Christmas. Unlike other countries in the west, in Australia, Christmas is a summer festival. The perfect treasure of nature teamed with warm clear blue sky of December and the city’s most dazzling coastlines dressed with lights enthrall everyone.
The whole of city is decking up, wearing on a new look, getting in tune with the festive mood and preparing for the grand event. Christmas decorations with their magical luster add to the spirit of the carnival making the city a pulsating place to experience the vigor of the date whilst augmenting the rich heritage and tradition of Australia.
The public celebrations include the Christmas trees decorated with traditional ornaments with people gathered around them singing carols. The markets brim with Christmas gifts, souvenirs, decorations and candles. The Christmas feast also has an Australian flavor and the Sydney attitude in that they are mostly enjoyed outdoors; relaxed parties on sprawling lawns. Sydney Harbour cruises are the best choice for those who would wish to enjoy both – a lovely feast and the great outdoors!
Whether it is celebrated outdoors, on the beaches, around the harbour or on a cruise, Christmas in Sydney is sure to be a feast of fun and frolic!
The city parks are lit up with bud lights, streets are illuminated. The heritage buildings are also grandly decorated. The city Town Hall is beautifully decorated along with the other churches in the city.
City’s largest Christmas tree, an impressive 21-metre tall traditional tree in Martin Place is an attraction as also the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Darling Harbor. In the Queen Victoria Building one can see a stunning tree, sparkling with 40,000 lights and 15,000 Swarovski crystals.
Almost every suburb hosts Christmas carols by candlelight, amazing carols at the Sydney Opera House and on Bondi Beach offer entertainment. Floats, giant balloons and a plethora of colorful characters march down George Street during the Sydney Christmas Parade.
Santa and his envoys can be found in shopping centres across the city adding to the glory of the fascinating decorations. The people of Sydney enjoy the magic of Christmas with numerous events and activities for everyone. From Christmas concerts to carnivals, the whole city offers a whale of a time to the visitors during Christmas celebrations.
The city bejewels with pulsating color, hue, glamour and lights supplementing the true spirit of the date, making Sydney one of the most cherished destinations during Christmas.
